Large language models and generative AI have already transformed how we work with information — words, images, and video. Their impact is massive and still unfolding. What we haven’t yet seen is how AI will change the physical world we live in — how we move, how we power our lives, how we build the products and infrastructure around us. That’s the role of Physics AI: systems trained to understand and instantly predict physical reality with precision. Physics AI will reshape how products are conceived, engineered, and built, and in turn how society advances.
The first step of this change will happen by embedding physics intelligence directly into the product development process — from the earliest design concepts through engineering and manufacturing, and even into the products themselves. That translates to vehicles that travel farther on less energy, manufacturing lines that integrate models to improve yield and reduce waste, and industrial systems that use Physics AI for safer, more efficient real-time control. And this is only the beginning. As Physics AI matures, entirely new applications will emerge, shaping innovation and impact in ways we can’t yet fully imagine.
Luminary Cloud is pioneering this new category of AI with our Physics AI Model Factory, the fastest and easiest way to build and deploy models. To demonstrate what these models can do, we are developing a family of pre-trained models called SHIFT. Today SHIFT-SUV helps automotive designers explore different automotive SUV shapes and assess aerodynamic performance in seconds. SHIFT-Wing enables aerospace engineers and designers to experiment with new aircraft designs to improve fidelity and reduce risk. And we will continue to push SHIFT beyond aerodynamic applications into other domains of physics that drive innovation.
Physics AI is already transforming the traditional CAE market by changing how engineering teams use tools like simulation. What once required hours or days of computation can now be explored interactively in seconds, opening up new ways to design and optimize. But just as LLMs began as chatbots and quickly became the foundation for the next generation of software products, Physics AI is expanding far beyond simulation. Models are starting to be embedded directly into products and systems themselves — from vehicles that adapt in real time to industrial equipment that optimizes its own performance. This opportunity dwarfs the traditional CAE market: starting from a single application and rapidly expanding into the backbone of a new generation of technologies.
To capture this opportunity, we’ve raised $72M of new capital in our Series B from visionary VC firms. N47 led the round with continued support from Series A investor Sutter Hill Ventures, along with new participation from NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm. We’re using this capital to bring Physics AI to more engineering companies by expanding our reach, and to push into new applications of physics. This work is only possible because of the extraordinary team at Luminary — experts at the intersection of physics and AI who are building something the world has never seen before.
NVIDIA has also been an important partner in the development of our models leveraging NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo, their open-source deep learning framework for evaluating, training, fine-tuning and validating Physics AI models.
We believe the key to this generational opportunity is speed. Physics AI, like language and image models, follows scaling laws: the more and better data the models have, the more powerful they become. At Luminary, we’ve built the capability to generate that data end to end — from massively parallel, GPU-native simulation, to automated curation, model training, and tuning — all designed for scale and velocity. By automating every stage of the process, we can create accurate datasets and refined models faster than was previously possible. This speed advantage helps our customers move quickly too: getting to market earlier, creating better products, and reducing development risk.
Physics AI will define the next era of innovation — not just faster simulations, but a world where every product carries embedded intelligence about the physical world. At Luminary, our mission is to make that future real. This is a generational shift, and we’re just getting started.
